It is the nature of our world to experience the manifestations of duality, not just in the physical world around us as opposites, but in the ever-changing colours and shades of the birth-life-growth-decay and death cycle of life. And not least in the psychology of the human with what we call positive and negative traits, thoughts, emotions and actions – represented by the four elements – and the extremes of unconditional love and murderous hatred. But the Yin-Yang symbol shows that it is not an absolute division of one thing from another, for the small dots in each half show that nothing is absolute.
US and THEM
I see with horror how the world has divided itself into blacks and whites and yet I know there must be some purpose in this, as the yin-yang duality describes. I am horrified that it has caused hatred and apartheid, oppression of one people by another, and in some cases annihilation. It has always bothered me that the dark-eyed ‘black’ people have been treated so badly and have wondered why the blue-eyed ‘white’ race think of themselves as superior. Perhaps Hitler came to show us the ultimate expression of this, to stop us in our tracks.
I want to make a difference, to expose this stupid discrimination, and do small things which may add up to something grand to bring a loving peace between people. I read, think, study, wonder, try to understand the Higher purpose of this and what we are supposed to do with it. Could the distinct and separate races meld in the ‘melting pot’ of cross-cultural mating to form a new race of undetermined colour – to form a beautiful brown Earth people with multi-shades of eyes and hair, and a range of features, characteristics and abilities that cannot be segregated into well-defined ‘races’? Perhaps we are already becoming this!
To perceive life as a bird from above one could look down and see patterns – patterns of behaviour, patterns of movement around the planet, patterns of social structure, patterns in the rise and fall of nations, the emergence and disappearance of civilisations – and compare human expression with the natural world it finds itself in. In it, somewhere, there is a clue which will explain why we have divided ourselves, the one half trying to eliminate the other, while as individuals we constantly yearn for our ‘other half’ with whom we can exchange unfettered love and unite as one.
If we can discover the origins of the White Race, the Aryans (if they are one and the same), I feel we may find an answer. If some of us did indeed come from another place in the cosmos, or time-space dimension, and started out with knowledge that was kept from others, it could answer the unconsciously-held presumption that they are different, more advanced, superior, or more privileged than the race that did not originate from that place. But this presumption strikes against my understanding that the Universal Architect created all… and Father Spirit, finding Mother Spirit here on Earth, co-created their children and all are bequeathed the right to be free, to procreate, and to love and be loved in peaceful harmony together… aren’t they?
How did duality start – from a fissure in the wholeness of creation? In the simple concept of beauty, there has to be a standard of beauty, and all things outside that standard, fail in beauty. Where there is light, a shadow must be cast. To evolve, progress, grow, improve, excel, we leave behind a self which does not.
Human biology tells us that all babes are conceived as one gender – a non-male, or feminine androgen, with a potential to specialise its genes into one or the other – a boy or a girl – while keeping secretly within, it’s ‘other’. The separation seems to serve only one purpose – to be able to unite again in sexual union to re-create itself. The bio-psychology of each gender best serves its role – to dispassionately leave the nest to hunt and roam, as man (once the seed is sown); or remain around the hearth to nourish, grow and teach the child to maturity, as woman. And yet both genders have so much more – both can think, create artistically, work, explore, learn, hone their manual skills or philosophies, study the sciences, entertain, or trade – and these are not exclusve to one gender or the other.
To turn around the human destruction of humans, we have to understand how it started. How was Man set against Man? There is a story about how one action changed things – how one man, back along, decided to trick his community into thinking they were going to be attacked and therefore needed to defend themselves. The opportunist volunteered to gather a small army and lead it, for a small reward and free quarters within the city. He was a man who had no land of his own and therefore had to create a job for himself – as a self-appointed fighter of the ‘enemy’, a protector of the citizens – but who was this imagined ‘enemy’? We have a saying: ‘An Englishman’s home is his castle’; so is it only when we enclose ourselves in a space that we (think we) own, that we find we have to defend it, making all outsiders potential attackers? Is it just about the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’? Or are there really outsiders, enemies, bent on sucking the planet dry with no regard for life, individual or collective. Is the force we name evil lost of its balancing other half? Has it become devoid of harmony and cannot procreate, and so must take from others who can?
I have read history of the ‘Dark Ages’, of battles and slaughter of huge numbers of people; of empire-builders, great wealth and great loss; of lands won and then lost again in the bid to be the strongest, most powerful and most wealthy.
It goes against a simple principle – that we have everything that we need without taking anything from another. If we should have a surplus, we can trade it with someone for something we need. It’s so easy.
Is this dense, material plane to teach us this simple principle? To see another not for his differences but for our shared gifts? That in seeking and finding love through a soul-mate, even the alter-soul within, we can feel complete? By seeing a blend of genders not as abnormal but evolution? By seeing both sides of difference not as opposites, oppositions, opposing forces, but as uniting, encompassing, harmonising forces.
Is it possible in this Earthy realm?
