NUMEROLOGY – Part 2 of 3names2

AngelsAboveSmallThere seems to be a part of us that is yearning to know who we really are. Each one of us suspects, or knows, that we are more than just an animal walking the Earth.

The human aspect of our true spirit can only use the information that we can gather from around our Earthly existence to decipher the esoteric knowledge hidden within it.

What do we know so far?

  1. We live on Planet Earth, which is turning constantly.
  2. We live within a Universe, a Galaxy, under a Sun, a Moon and Stars in a fathomless sky, all moving around.
  3. We are either predominantly male or female.
  4. We are a child of parents, may have siblings, mates and children of our own.
  5. We are born and live in certain places and have a certain nationality and ancestry.
  6. We may have been born into a religion, speak a certain language, educated in a certain way.
  7. We are good at some things and not so good at other things.
  8. We have fears, hopes, dreams and ambitions.
  9. We are conceived on a certain date, and born on another.
  10. We have a personal name, one given to us or one we use.

In a forever changing environment only a few things remain constant.

I will repeat what I wrote in Part 1:

What you hold to be true for you reflects your reality, and so any system can offer a mystical insight for you, no matter how bizarre, irregular, unreliable or non-universal. But what about Numerology?

The physical, material, chemical and organic world is constructed on a basic mathematical system. It is measurable, using Natural Geometry (‘geo’, being of earth, and ‘metria’ being measurement).

Since the first conscious study of life, the earliest scientists were mathematicians. They measured things. They measured the size, shape and distance between things. This gives us a perspective.golden mean spiral

Our personal identity is based on a measured relationship between us and everything else. In so doing we become conscious of ourselves with regard to the whole.

Numerology is thought to have originated with the Chinese sages around 4,000 years ago, recorded on a turtle shell, and gradually filtered west. This is when our self-assessment, in a measurable form, leapt from one of imagery, intuition and a primal response, to one that was written, using symbols, calculated and recorded. This is when the left brain co-joined with the right brain in a conscious way, activating the pineal gland, or ‘third eye’ and triggering consciousness.

Therefore Numerology works because we can respond to it with both left and right brain functions.

Beyond ‘1’ is infinity and eternity, i.e. nothing and everything – ‘0’

Every other number is ‘1’ + another ‘1’, then another ‘1’ and so on.

Before writing came into form, we would see a collection of ‘1’s as a picture. A group of articles, say oranges, in a heap on the ground would look a certain way; if one orange was removed it would look different; if one orange was added it would look different again. Three oranges may have looked like a triangle; four oranges may have looked like a rectangle, etc. The shape becomes clear when a straight line is drawn from the centre of each ‘orange’. Other things were observed and ‘counted’: how many fingers on a hand; how many trees on the horizon; how many hills in the landscape; how many huts in a village?

So the numbers we use today were invented by man – a symbol that represented a picture. The number cards in a pack of playing cards, demonstrate numbers in a pattern very well.  The numbers 1 to 9 were originally pictographs – shapes in the form of things or dots. The abacus (strings of beads) was an early instrument for adding these dot-things into stacks of groups – 10s. Nine beads plus one would become ‘0’ on the first row and ‘1’ on the second row. It is still used today.

Then along came Morse Code (an extension of jungle drums), the telegraph and then telephones, and then radios, TVs, and computers. All these things work on the ‘1’ and ‘0’, a binary system.  ‘1’ or ‘0’ is ‘on’ or ‘off’.

Since using electricity, it was seen as a simple and very effective way of sending a signal. Bleep or No-bleep.

BUT this binary system is more – it seems that it was the very first manifestation of matter.

First, we are told, there was No-thing, ‘0’. Yet it was Every-thing, in an unseen, unknowable form. Then, something no-one has ever been able to explain or understand – we just have to accept that it happened – No-thing started to become Some-thing, a  ‘one’. OFF became ON.

All matter is ON, or ‘1’ and…Everything that is not yet matter is ‘0’, or OFF.

Seen/unseen

Positive/negative

One/nothing

Something/nothing yet

Matter/Space

The human mind works in the same way: that which switches us on, and that which switches us off; that which feels right and that which feels wrong; the time to act and the time to be still; the time to speak and the time to be silent; a time to hunt and a time to sleep. In this way the human has survived, by responding to this simple, beautiful, magical signal.

I want to just add that neither ON or OFF is right or wrong. All the opposites are part of the whole, just two sides of the same coin – just as valuable, important and powerful as the other.

We have learned to use the numbers 1 to 9, and zero. And so these numerical symbols have entrenched themselves in our psyche and become real. But remember, behind the symbols lies the original ON/OFF signal.

1 = 1     2 = 1+1      3 = 1+1+1     and so on – simple Maths – Yes?

These shapes, or  notations, or numbers, have become universal and accepted symbols, 1234567890, and people have been having a field day with them ever since. Mathematicians – and every single student of every science held within the Natural world, has been observing, experimenting, calculating, testing, evaluating and wondering about numbers since their first conception. What can be done with numbers is seemingly endless. All form displays a numeric code and certain codes have an intrinsic power, or magic. (Sacred Geometry)

Now that we have evolved alongside numbers, it is almost as though they are a part of us: they are in us – body and soul.

And this is why Numerology works.

Numerology, like Astrology, is a science based on an understanding of the mathematical, scientific, material universe, melded with an understanding of the human psyche, or psychology, (which is why they have not yet been fully accepted as sciences by the science purists). But it is only through the study of the human aspect, and how the psyche (or mind) and the function of the brain create our responses to what we observe and experience, that we discover our relationship to the world around us. Humans behave according to a basic instinct and an unconscious intuition, or sixth sense. Many people are raising this two-sided brain function into full conscious awareness. After a period of what seems like a long sleep, many people are thinking ‘outside the box’ and some are truly inspired.

When you know your number, how will you know what it means?

Quite simply, we probably base this knowledge on past observations. Over 4 millennium, those who have studied the subject have found patterns, groups of people all displaying similar, if not identical qualities. And these patterns have become associated with the number. These characteristics and qualities are also reflected in Nature. The construction of the material world is mathematical, numerical and geometrical – and we are a part of that world, both Earthly and Cosmic.

We can look at this in a very simplistic way and say ‘I am a 6’, for example, but we can look much deeper. Using Numerology, all the numbers and letters in our personal data can be computed in different ways and so the information can be vast.

One more point to consider is this. Some Numerologists, like Astrologists, dowsers, palm-readers etc may use more than science. They study the data, yes, but some of them ‘tune into’ the subject in a different, more subtle way. They can perceive things that are not obvious. They can see co-incidences, patterns, anomalies and unique configurations and their sixth-sense may tell them something extra. A psychic reader may come up with something inexplicable.

WARNING Anyone earning their living from this will use marketing ploys, just like any other marketeer, so be careful. We must all maintain our own freedom of choice, based on our own skills and intuition, higher guidance and self-determination. Beware any reader who tells you to do something based on their interpretation. Guard against the lures of flattery, curiosity and delusion.names3

You can all do your own further research into this, but for the purpose of the exercise, I volunteered myself to a Numerologist. In the interests of research I am willing to be Guinea-pig, even though I can do my own Numerology.

The Numerologist gave me a free taster and lots of reassurances about his security and my safeguards. He also offered his own story of discovery to Numerology, including his intensive training. The free taster, beautifully presented, told me what I already knew about myself, and have already read in a good book, but was comprehensive and eloquent. It is always interesting to have a stranger reflect it back to you. He then offered a complete life profile, past, present and future, as well as 9 e-manuals, 3 software sites to do readings, and tuition, plus an extra relationship reading – for a payment. I ventured on and paid £48. (65$ +tax)

What came back was very impressive. The Numerologist gave me a complete overview of my life, including seven years yet to happen in 154 pages. As well as showing well-defined years and cycles, different aspects of my expression, soul path and personality (negative and positive) and more, he also gave me a complete year-by-year, month-by-month and day-by-day forecast from this moment to seven years hence. Judging by my knowledge of what has already happened, it was accurate, not in specific events, but trends. Personally, I am wary of future predictions, although this Numerologist avoided specific predictions and offered only trends.

He used his expertise to do the calculations, his knowledge  from training with a traditional source and his time and effort and excellent presentation from his own enterprise. If you cannot do this for yourself, I consider it very good value.

Our circumstances, especially our future, can change second by second – as we change. We may have many possible outcomes according to how we change (how much and how fast) – thank goodness, because if it were all set in stone we would have no freedom of choice and no room for improvement. Nevertheless, it is useful to know our own potential and limitations within our own scope.

To understand any subject it is important to know fact from fiction, the truth from speculation, knowledge from flawed information.

To this end I am writing about how numerology can work, or not.

Numerology is a means to identify one’s own personal number and the information that that may offer relies on one’s own personal data.

Generally two sets of numbers are studied –

  1. Birth-date
  2. Name
  • A birth-date may be 01/02/1934. The numbers 0, 1, 0, 2, 1, 9, 3, and 4 are added together to produce a final number of 20. Then these two numbers are added together to make 2. The two numbers, 20/2 are then analysed.
  • A name may be ‘Alpha Omega’. The letters of the name are matched against their corresponding number as in the grid below.

Thus, ‘Alpha Omega’ would be converted to  1, 3, 7, 8, 1, 6, 4, 5, 7, 1, which are added together to produce a final number of 43. Then these two numbers are added together to make 7. The two numbers, 43/7 are then analysed.

[Other numbers and names may be used such as one’s telephone number, house name and number, place of birth, place of present residence, marriage date, car registration number, etc.]

The analysis is produced by a numerologist according to their description of what each number means.

DATES: Who’s counting?

The numbers of the year are based on so many different calendars, which all start from different times in history, that it is almost impossible to say that any year has any relevance. A year is only numbered from a point of reference. Where do we start?

In pagan times, before the first religion, the measurement of the passing years was from two sources – the Cosmos and the Earth.

sundialEarly astronomers were already watching the movements of the stars and noting patterns and cycles, especially of certain fixed stars and groups of stars, or constellations. The 12, or 13, constellations in the solar zodiac formed an approximately 26,000 year cycle or ‘Great Year’.

The sky contains the Sun, which creates the yearly cycle itself, moving through the vernal equinox, the summer solstice, the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. These four fixed points mark out the seasons.

The Moon is seen to move through a cycle of 29.5 days in its orbit around the earth which gives 12-13 moons in one solar year, this gives the months.

So a day is one rising of the sun, a month is one rising of a new moon, a year is the cycle of rising and falling lengths of day and an Age is marked by the precession of the equinoxes through the constellations.

It was only with the onset of religion that certain dates were marked and numbered, usually according to the prophet or enlightened being who set the doctrine of the religion.

Judaism started around 3700 BC. Jewish Year is 5770

Hinduism started around 3100 BC. Hindu Year is 5110

Chinese calendar started around 2700 BC. Chinese Year is 4707 ‘Ox’

Jainism started 800BC

Buddhism started 500BC

Taoism started 206 BC. (Ended with Chinese Communism)

Kashmir Year is 2064

Christianity started 0000AD. Christian Year is 2009

Ethiopian Year is 2003

Coptic Church Year is 1727

Islam started 579 AD. Muslim Year is 1430

Zoroastrianism started C7th BC. but established C7th AD.  Zoroastrian Year is 1378

The Gregorian calendar is used now to synchronise the year date internationally. This is an updated version of the Julian calendar installed by the Roman Empire.

The months of January to December are not recognised by any other religion except Christianity.

They are named after Roman Gods and numbers relating to March 25th being the start of the Roman Church year.

January – Janus, the god or endings and beginnings

February – ‘purification’, being the festival of the last month

March – Mars, the 25th being the festival of the first month, ‘annunciation’

April – Venus, name adapted from Aphrodite, the Greek Venus

May – Maia, the Earth goddess

June – Juno, goddess of women and marriage

July – Julius Caesar

August – Augustus Caesar

September - Seventh

November - Ninth

December – Tenth

The numbering of months is based on the assumption of January 1st being New Year, but…

DATE LINE: Which side are you?

Because of the division of the globe into time zones, the New Year moves progressively around the globe at the start of the New Year’s Day. The first time zone to usher in the New Year is just west of the International Date Line. At that time the time zone to the east of the Date Line is 23 hours behind, still in the previous day. The central Pacific Ocean island nation of Kiribati claims that its easternmost landmass, uninhabited Caroline Island, is the first to witness the New Year.

DAYS: Where do we start?

To decide on the number of the day we were born we need to decide on the start date. If the year, the month and the first day of the year are all disputable, how do we know what number our day is?

Conclusion: there are  no consistencies in the numbering of the year and the month, and therefore the day.

NAMES: What is your name?names1

In the numerology of names, we have a problem. The theory is based on the English alphabet of 26 letters and a vague reference to Hebrew lettering. I.e. a,b,c, = 1,2,3. Zero is left out. And there is a gap after z. If the same system is used for foreign names there are some languages that have more or fewer letters, and even different letters, e.g. Greek, Russian, Turkish.

Some people have ‘Christian’ names, ‘given’ names, second, third, fourth or fifth ‘middle’ names, ‘sur’(or sire, or father) names, ‘mother’ names, double-barrelled names, ‘nick’ names or ‘spiritual’ or ‘medicine’ names. So which onesnames3 should we use?

Some ‘first’ names, commonly called ‘Christian’ names or ‘given’ names, are a modernised form of an older name which may even be from a different language. Some ‘sur’ names are a degradation of an older name which stands for the family’s trade, the father’s home town or some other antique connection. Should the original name be used?

If a system is to be used to signify a deep and meaningful truth and is then used to decipher the mystery behind the name or number, should it not be universal? How does one do this numerology for a Chinese person or an Arab?

Some Numerologists use numbers to relate to planets. There is a discrepancy in this too, because Pluto has not been accepted as a planet by all, the Moon is a moon, not a planet, neither is the Sun, which is a star. Constellations are widely accepted, but Ophiuchus is generally forgotten and there is some disagreement about the solar zodiac versus the lunar zodiac, procession or precession. Is it 1-12, 12-1, 1-13 or 13-1?

There are certain forms in the physical world that do have constant numerology – the so called ‘Platonic Solids’. This collection of geometric shapes has an indisputable numeric form and is sometimes called ‘Sacred Geometry’. The crystalline structure of the basic elements of the Earth’s physical structure also offers a numerical system which follows a standard and is reliable. (The Elemental Table or Atomic Table)

  • The numerology of names and dates may not have any esoteric meaning;
  • Numbers may not have any reference to letters in a name;
  • Numbers relating to a collection of dates chosen at random from a mixture of man-made calendars may not be helpful.

Nevertheless, if what you hold to be true for you reflects your reality, then any system can offer a mystical insight for you, no matter how bizarre, irregular, unreliable or non-universal. After all, the indigenous people of the world have looked to stones, bones and body parts for their inspiration!names2

The numbers themselves do have both intrinsic and esoteric meaning.

MOON MEDICINE.

In the esoteric philosophies, every aspect of the physical world, down to the smallest nano-particle, and out to the farthest reaches of the Universe, has another, more far-reaching meaning. This is sometimes called Hermetic Knowledge, or ‘As above, So below’.ist1_7457889-floral-ornament

THE MOON

  • The Moon orbits the Earth and moves with us in our orbit around the Sun.
  • The Moon has a fluctuating character and because of its closeness to us, it influences the water on our planet and causes rising and falling tides, both in the oceans and in every living thing.
  • As it moves around us, it pulls water with it. It ascends in the east and descends in the west, in its path across the sky and appears to change in size and shape, as the shadow of Earth and the light of the Sun move across its surface. We call it waxing and waning.
  • When the Moon is full, the half of the moon facing us is lit by the Sun. When the old Moon disappears, the shadow of the Earth covers it.
  • The reflected light radiating from the Moon affects our light, growth rate, sleep and dreams. The movement of the Moon affects our internal organs, brain function, thought and emotional responses, creativity and physical energy levels, and the height of the Moon in its trajectory, affects the length of time it influences us.

For example:

When the Moon is full, and is on its highest ascent path across the sky, more living things, for a longer time, will be affected.

When the old moon crescent disappears on its lowest descent path across the sky, fewer living things will feel its influence.

  • A full Moon, at the lowest descent mark, will shine its light almost horizontally across the Earth’s surface. It will be ‘in your face’.
  • A full Moon at the highest ascent mark will shine its light vertically down from above, and will be closer to you.
  • The Islamic flag has an ‘old Moon’ crescent because it is more apparent in the East. (It usually appears in the early morning in the West)

All these different combinations have differing effects on us mere mortals.

Some of us are born in a season of increasing daylight hours, others in decreasing daylight hours.

Some of us are born around an equinox, or a solstice.

Some of us are born at night and some during the daytime. Some with the setting Sun, or Moon, and some with the rising Sun, or Moon.

And then there are all the other planets to take into consideration!

So we can see that the time we are born, and the unique set of circumstances in which we find ourselves arriving, can produce a very unique response to the world in each and every one of us. In Astrology, our Moon sign is as important to understand as our Sun sign. Apart from that, on any one day, the circumstances of that time and place will effect us all, collectively.

If the Moon is influencing us in a particularly strong way, most of us will feel it, either positively or negatively.

Usually there is one full Moon in one calendar month. There are different opinions on this, but once in a while there is a ‘Blue Moon’. This can either be two full Moons in one month, the second one being ‘Blue’, or four Moons in a season, instead of three.

In one calendar year, there are thirteen Moons, so a Blue Moon occurs about once a year. “Once in a Blue Moon” is a saying in our language for a very rare occasion, when something fortuitous happens ‘out of the blue’. But your particular ‘Blue Moon’, may be a unique configuration, that means something specific for you.

If, your Blue Moon occurs, you may find that your emotions start to increase, decrease, or mis-behave. If you are prone to moods, depression, tearfulness, highs and lows, manic behaviour, excitability, euphoria, grief, melancholy, bliss, or just plain old happiness, it may arrive more intensely and unexpectedly.

Earth Medicine -  the Moon is Feminine applies to Water, and water applies to Emotions.

Nature lovers, gardeners and farmers know that certain Moon phases are good for planting, sowing, and harvesting.

World Mythology has images and stories of Moon goddesses, especially Diana the Huntress, Artemis and Hecate. Also ‘lunacy’, (or Moon Madness), mystery and imagination, beliefs according to the feminine principle, dreaming, seership, psychicness, intuition and magic.

Old Rituals were conducted by the light of the Moon, especially a full Moon, and associations with witches  and magic persist. People and animals of course will respond to the rising energy of a full Moon, as it brings on ovulation, and mating orgies and pagan weddings were conducted according to this strong influence.

Astrology - The Zodiac sign of Cancer, (The Crab, June 21-July 22) has Moon as its ruling planet and represents Mother and Home.

Tarot - If the Moon appears for you, it may represent a time when the Unconscious Mind is very active and can cause uncertainty, and fluctuating emotions; but the Feminine Principle is at work and through dreams and images, a realisation will arrive, bringing insights and hope. It can auger a time when a woman enters your life, or when you are being asked to release the feminine in you to be receptive and intuitive, for the magic of the Moon is elusive.

Numerology of the Moon is 7. The 360 degrees of a circle is represented by the Sun, and is divisible by all the numbers one to nine , except seven, which relates to the quarters of the Moon cycle.

The Moon is elusive, changeable, of the night, mysterious, yet closely linked to us. It appears to be dead, physically, yet it is constantly metamorphasising, on the move, and has this strong influence over us -  one in which we seem to be inextricably linked.

Time-line of Sun

SUN STAR

  • The Sun is a star, and has a finite life. It is about 4 and a half billion years old so far. In another 5 and a half billion years it is destined to become a Red Giant, and after it will be a White Dwarf. It is getting bigger.
  • It is a massive radioactive furnace of hydrogen and helium (and metal elements) and radiates its energy as heat and light emitting photons, which radiate outward, and at the distance we now happen to be from the Sun – 8.3 ‘light minutes’, and between 92.5 and 94.5 million miles, it creates life on Earth by photosynthesis, (i.e. converting light).

  • Solar flares, Sun-spot activity and magnetic storms (which create the Northern Lights) seem to have a direct influence on our world and have been noted to fluctuate in approximately 11year cycles. At this time, 2009, Sun-spot activity is reportedly very low. It is predicted that the build up to the next high will be over the next 3 years. This cycle of activity has been observed since the middle of the 19th Century and affects not only our weather, but harvests, health and political and military stability. That means we are affected individually too.
  • The Sun is the centre of our Solar System, around which our planets orbit.

TIME

  • Earth Time has a relativity to our Sun. Our day is the time it takes for Earth to rotate once, showing all its sides to the Sun, causing time to pass as night and day. As the Earth rotates on an axis (approx 23 degrees) the length of day fluctuates between the winter solstice (shortest day) and the summer solstice (longest day) giving us seasons. Solstice means ‘Sun still-point’.

  • Our year is the time it takes for Earth to orbit the Sun once.
  • It is thought that it takes approximately 25 million years for the Sun (our solar system) to orbit the galaxy.
  • Our time-clock is based on a year of sunrises. Before 1495BC it was 360 sunrises, (suggesting that either the earth’s orbit of the Sun is slower, or it is further away now).
  • This is the basis of the 360 degrees of a circle, and 360 can be conveniently divided by each number, 1-12 (except 7 and 11 – see below*).
  • This circle is divided into 24hours, or 2 turns of 12 hours (1 day, 1 night at the equinoxes) and is based on the 12 constellations and 12 Houses of the Zodiac – see below**.
  • In the circle (clock face) of 12 hours, each hour position moves through 30 degrees (12×30=360 degrees).
  • If the circle of one hour is divided into 12, each position is 5 minutes (12×5=60 minutes).
  • If the circle of one minute is divided into 12, each position is 5 seconds (12×5=60 seconds).
  • One hour= 60mins x60secs=3600 seconds. (When life was slower, were there only 6 moments in a minute?)
  • (The angles of a 6-pointed star are 60 degrees between points on its circle (6×60=360) and 60 degrees within each point (6×60=360). The 6-pointed star is a whole subject in itself which I may tackle in a blog post soon.)
  • (*The cycle of the moon is another circle. If the circle of one moon (approx 28 days) is divided into 4 quarters, or ‘phases’, each quarter is 7 days= 1 week. This does not have a relativity to Sun/Earth Time).
  • (*The Sun demonstrates an 11 year cycle of sun-spot activity. This does not have a relativity to Earth Time, although it does affect the Earth).
  • **NB – if the 13th constellation was brought into the picture, all these calculations would have to change, which is probably why the system based on 12 persists.

This is another way to look at time:

There is an appointed time (zman) for everything. And there is a time (’êth) for every event under heaven–

A time (’êth) to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.

A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.

A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.

A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.

A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.

LIGHT

  • The Sun is white – but its light scatters when nearing earth. The first frequencies to scatter are ultraviolet and blue, creating our blue sky, leaving the Sun to look yellow, orange or red as seen from Earth. Whole spectrum light is white, where the range of frequencies is all the colours of the rainbow, between ultra violet and infra red. (many more than 7!)

  • Our Sun is one of the brightest stars in the galaxy, the others being mostly red dwarfs.
  • The colours that we see in our world are relative to the different frequencies in the spectrum of light, and the co-responding frequency of the material from which the light reflects. E.g. all green things vibrate at the same frequency of green in the light spectrum and reflect the light photons into the eye where we register it as green.

SPACE

  • Since the creation of our Sun Star, the energy, that blasted it into all the matter that eventually formed the planets, has propelled the planets out into their orbits, to either return once again to their origin, or to be cast out into space, as the Sun burns up and dies.
  • The solar system is presently located in an interstellar ‘cloud’ (of gas), near Orion, and between Perseus and Sagittarius constellations.
  • **The solar system rotates against the backdrop of 12 constellations (groups of stars) that we place in the Zodiac sphere, divided into 12 ‘Houses’ **, and one rotation takes about 26,000 years.
  • The Alignment of our Sun to the centre of our Galaxy happens once in this 26,000 year cycle. This is thought to take place around 2012.

SYMBOLOGY

  • The Sun is the Source of our Light, and the direct enlightenment of our physical world, and night-time is the  temporary Dark, or dream time. Our material reality is experienced consciously with our physical senses, but the dream time is experienced unconsciously.

  • It is because of this Light that the Sun is seen as a god – our ‘Sun God’ - and worshiped (because it is distant and powerful) in a long-distance relationship. Its warmth and light is seen as the Sun God’s Love for us because it keeps us alive and happy. It makes living easy for us.
  • But it’s power can also destroy us and is feared as the Sun God’s ‘wrath’. It’s power can strike down in Lightning (Solar or Cosmic?), cause the Fires of Destruction, and kill us. If we don’t shelter from it when it is too hot or bright – when it is too powerful – it can harm us.
  • And so the way we can communicate with the Sun God is with intent, knowledge and action, in ceremony and ritual designed around the Sun, especially at certain times like the solar eclipses, equinoxes and solstices, and dawn and dusk.
  • The Sun God is considered to be masculine, whereas the Earth Goddess is considered to be feminine.  When God’s Spirit - the seed of  life, love and light – enters the Earth Body – the womb of creation -  it conceives new life  and God Consciousness is born. We can see this miracle in everything that lives and grows.
  • But everything that grows, will eventually come to Death - just like the Sun God at sunset and at the Winter Solstice (shortest day/longest night). This includes humans: we are born, we live and we die.
  • Yet Life is reborn in a re-creation, a renewal of creation, and in re-incarnation, or re-in-body-ment, of new life. Just as the Sun God is reborn every sunrise and each new year. It will continue in this way until the Earth Body cannot re-create; when the Earth Goddess becomes too old, too hot or too cold, to pro-create physically, and sustain life, (if we don’t destroy her first). This is in direct relation to the age of the Sun God, which will also eventually die. But as it is the Source of all life, perhaps life returns again to the Source?

**ASTROLOGY - ZODIAC Wherever the Sun is placed when you are born will determine which Sun Sign of the Zodiac you are. Leo is the happy sign that is ruled by the Sun itself. The sun aligns with each constellation in turn, for about 2165 years, (if the cycle is divided equally, rather than to sidereal time) but appears to go backwards. The buzz-word is that we have just left Pisces and are now in Aquarius. This is generally thought to be incorrect by astronomers, (rather than astrologers) who disagree amongst themselves but taking an average, expect the transition into Aquarius to happen in about 600 years. Nevertheless, a transition doesn’t happen over night and may well start its effects earlier. The Zodiac is divided into 13, not 12 Houses, each relating to a constellation. The 13th one, Ophiuchus, has been left out as it is a short transition, and the traditional of 12 persists. All these placements, alignments and configurations affects us all in differing ways at different times. It can be thought of as moving through a rainbow, basking in turn in a different colour, or a range of notes, enjoying different music. It is a different experience.

RELIGION – The ‘All-that-is’ God may or may not be the Sun. (I feel that as we know there is more beyond our Sun, the ‘All-that-is’ God, would be bigger than the Sun, but of course would include the Sun as it would include everything). In Christianity, there are claims that ‘Christ’ is the living Sun consciousness/Spirit that expressed itself specifically through one man, for the enlightenment of Humanity. Another Archangel of the Sun is Lucifer, a fallen Angel. Perhaps Lucifer brought visible light, and created the illusion and Christ brought the invisible Light, and created spiritual enlightenment.  When talking religion, each has its own expression.

MYTHOLOGY - There are probably as many names for the Sun God as there are cultures around the world. What is sure is that they all recognise the power and importance of the Sun. Apollo and Archangel Michael perhaps represent messengers from the Sun God. Quetzalcoatl, of the Aztec/Toltec time, from Middle America, was more a living Sun god who brought enlightenment to man, like Jesus Christ, of the Bible Times, from the Middle East. Chinese fire dragons represent the Sun’s energy on and in Earth. Here are some other Sun gods:

SUN MEDICINE – The Sun has always been honoured by all cultures worldwide, in rituals and ceremonies, prayers and supplications because of the recognition of its power and importance. For pagan and indigenous groups, the four seasonal Fire Festivals offer rites of passage and initiation. The Glastonbury pop festival may be seen as the modern day version of the summer solstice festival, and Christmas is a Christianising of the winter solstice festival. The equinoxes were also fire festivals for seed-sowing and harvesting. Fire is used in nearly all ceremonies, sometimes as candles, to represent the Sun’s power and light.

TREES, Plants, Animals and Us - As our largest plants, trees photosynthesise sunlight on a grand scale. They store the Sun’s energy as oils in their wood. Logs used for fires release the stored Sun energy, concentrated over hundreds of years, as they burn, and we can enjoy the light and warmth of the Sun during the cold dark months. Fossil fuels are stored sunlight from over millenia. All plants photosynthesise the sun’s energy into sugars, carbohydrates, vitamins and proteins, the edible ones being food for us. All food is stored sunlight. In the absence of plants, we can eat animals, which have also stored sunlight by converting their food into flesh. Our bodies are stored sunlight.

NATURAL HEALTH – It is vital to all living things to be exposed to the Sun’s light and warmth. Sunlight synthesises in melanin, in human skin, to protect it, causing it to darken, (tan) and it promotes ‘vit’ D, (a prohormone) essential for healthy skin and bones. Sunlight is uplifting, energising and creates happiness. Even on a dull day, sunlight can penetrate cloud and be therapeutic to mood and health. Ideally we were made to live outside, but originally we had more hair to protect us. Sunlight activates the pineal gland and creates melatonin at night, which is beneficial for our biological time-clock, bio-rhythms and sleep. But like everything, too much can be detrimental.

SUN WATCHING – Since the beginning of time humans have sat and contemplated the rising and setting sun. There is good reason for this. First, it is good to contemplate the start and end of a day; to plan, and to reflect, to pray and to give thanks to the source of life. It is meditative to watch the sun arrive and disappear and puts life into perspective. It allows a sense of peace and contentment in the spirit of man, and assists enlightenment.

There has been a revival of this act of sun-gazing, encouraged by the wise elders of both east and west. There is a time when it is beneficial and not harmful to look at the Sun, but go with caution. (A few minutes after sunrise and before sunset). If you are new to doing this, start with only a few seconds and build the time slowly and carefully. This practice will change your life.

LIFE BEYOND – When considering LIFE, we observe everything that we can and draw our knowledge from it   But it is one thing to have knowledge, and another thing entirely to have the wisdom to use it well! It is within the experience of many, that the finite life of our physical dimension has another, more mysterious, magical and miraculous aspect that is beyond the physical dimension and unrestricted by time. Beyond our solar system there is an array of constellations, and a Galaxy that is spiraling around. Beyond this galaxy there is Outer Space with more galaxies and Super Novas and universes. Outer space is a mirror image of our inner space. (As above, so below). If we go inward far enough, we now know that something extra-ordinary happens. A single light particle, which is also a wave vibration through a range of frequencies, can exist in at least two places at once. That gives it a quantum potential of being either this or that or something else. But what determines it’s fate? How does it choose? Is it random or does it have a design, a purpose and free will? Can we influence it – when we relate to it?

Take that knowledge and go outward as far as we can and the same law may apply. A single Sun, Galaxy and Universe can possibly exist in at least two potential places. So what determines which exists and which doesn’t? Possibly only our observance and perception, experience, acceptance and/or belief of it.

THE MIND OF THE SUN (CONSCIOUSNESS)

If there is one thing that is unique to the experience of  the human being, it is that we can think: we are conscious, or sentient. Using this power of thought we can become ‘Enlightened’. And by using this power of thought we can determine, in every second, whether to do this, or to do that, or something else. In this way we use our MIND to create, with free will and the power of choice.

If we humans can create, and we are such minute specks in a vast physical world, and we know that the Sun can create life on earth, is it not impossible to speculate that the Sun has a MIND too? Is this not the SOURCE of our creative, powerful, either/or potential, which makes our existence unique? And if we, as living entities, are conscious, with an ability to make choices, surely the SOURCE of life is CONSCIOUS too.

If we are the embodiment of our CONSCIOUSNESS, is not every living thing the embodiment of its consciousness?

There is a public footpath that runs through a private estate with an ancient forest, close to where I live.

On May 1st my friend Helen and I checked out the oldest inhabitants, in glorious sunshine and under a clear blue sky. These ancient ones were awe-inspiring, displaying characters of the faerie world: tree spirits; goddesses and gods of the ancestors; the birthers and rebirthers; grandmothers and grandfathers of the sylvan race, still lovingly adoring each other after hundreds of years; and dragons of the Underworld – the domain of Pan and his mythic companions, including the Green Man, Verege, Leif and Herm.

Look at these pictures in ‘peripheral vision’ or ’soft-focus’ and see what you can ’see’. For the world of spirit is subtle.

Whatever modern system is in place and whoever rises to the position of controlling that system, the public seem to find a perverse pleasure in criticising it. Eavesdropping on any small group of people in a public place, one may catch a sound-bite of the general mood of the in-crowd.

Of course the old adage of ‘you can only please some of the people some of the time’ will always apply, but the voting system should guarantee for us that those in office are there by the grace of the majority. I say ‘should’, but even in our so-called democracy the sliding percentage of those who vote, divided by those who vote for the party that gets in, reduces down to a probable 10-15% of the population. No wonder the majority are discontented! Whatever happened to ‘One Man-One Vote’?

Why does our electoral system fail us so badly? Ask a non-voter, like myself, why I don’t use my right to vote (in the political sense, for I use my right to choose in every other way) and be part of the democratic choice of parliamentary leaders, the answer I would give is this:

“When I see a person who nominates him/herself to be the leader of my country, evoking great feelings of confidence, trust, enthusiasm for working as a social group, and excitement for designing the social life-styles and environmental atmosphere that will please the real majority, then I will vote. Show me a true leader with real vision, heart and soul.”

I want to see a real Leader Personality step forward and say “Tell me what it is that you think, what you need, what you would like to see happen, or change, and I will be your spokesperson and the captain of that ship. I will find the way to make that happen.”

It seems that this is what Barak Obama has achieved, versus what Gordon Brown has not.

Now that is not a personal like or dislike of the men. (I have yet to meet either of them and get to know them as humans.) It is, rather, an observation of how these two top politicians have realised the public opinion of their electorate, and the different moods of that electorate. Sometimes the person stepping forward to take the helm is a ‘born leader’ and sometimes he is not, regardless of whether the man himself is of any worth or not.

Take Hitler for example. How did that man get the following he obviously had? What is not generally known is that he was continuing a trend in central and east Europe to ethnically cleanse itself from the Jewish members of their population?  Hitler became known for doing that, by the way that he decided to do it. Others before him had quietly moved the Jewish people along, to be someone else’s problem. Hitler just decided to eradicate them. So was he leading his country in the way that the general public wanted him to? Or did he at some point flip from being a leader to being a genocidal dictator?

And ‘Joe Blogs’? Where is the man nobody knows, who knows everything that needs to be known about being a true prime civil servant? No-one has heard of him and he is no-where to be seen. He has the knowledge but not the leadership.

Leadership probably has more to do with showmanship than politics. A good leader needs to have a charismatic public-speaking personality – one that will engage the listening ear of his people and unite with their hearts and minds. “Friends, Romans, Countrymen… lend me your ear…” He needs to not only say what his people want to hear, with conviction and truth, but colour it with some easy-to-follow guidelines about how things are going to get better. In other words sweeten the necessary discipline with rewards.

One reason why Obama has so far succeeded in popularity and Brown has not, could be timing. Both men have followed in the footsteps of largely unpopular fore-runners, who both engaged in an unpopular war program, when bad decisions were made behind closed doors. So where does the difference lie? Brown was Chancellor of the Exchequer for 10 years prior to one of the biggest financial down-turns in living memory – something he has yet to acknowledge publicly. Also, he has not been voted in as Prime Minister. He is there by default. Obama, on the other hand has no political record to live up or down to and he most definitely was voted in, probably by every American citizen who previously had never voted.

Could I do it? Not on your life! Why? Because I don’t want to! Thankfully I am not a born leader. It would be my worst nightmare – being responsible for thousands of others and the destiny of a nation. No, my talents lie in other directions!

Which is why I take my hat off to anyone who steps into the shoes of Leadership. A born leader is a sort of martyr. He/she will give up any other thought for his/her own personal life and dedicate every waking, and probably sleeping, minute of his/her life working for the whole country. And if he/she is a born leader he/she will want to do that. It would never occur to him/her that there was a different way of living. He/she will be driven, focused, dedicated and enjoy every moment.

In fact, a born leader won’t know he/she is a born leader. It will be the most natural thing in the world, for them. Anyone who is not a natural leader, anyone whose motive for leading the country is not idealistically high, would fail, unless we keep them there. Ideally, they would fall at the first fence and be exposed for the non-leader they are. The truth will out. (And there may be a purpose for a bad leader staying in power, but that’s another story). Some say the best leader for a country is a beneficial dictator. A true leader is single-minded and totally confident in what they believe to be right for, good for, and approved of  by the people. A true leader needs to be un-swayed by other temptations, stronger adverse opinions, negative motivations, threats, fears or ambitions from outside his domain.

There is an enigma working within a born leader. The qualities that go into making said person are diverse and uncountable. The unique blend of talent, wisdom, motivation and physical attributes are completely unquantifiable. The successful candidate is a happy accident. They can just appear out of the blue. There is no school for born leaders, purely and simply because their fate is sealed before they are born, seemingly.

I call to mind a few leaders who have stayed in my memory: Mikhail Gorbachev, Abraham Lincoln, Caesar, Tito, Kemal Ataturk, Nelson Mandela, Alfred the Great, Dalai Lama XIV, Suleiman the Magnificent, Massasoit, Boudica. Under these leaders the course of their country was dramatically changed – some say for the better. They have gone down in history as history makers, alongside many I don’t wish to name. Love them or hate them, great leaders are the founding fathers of our modern times. So who’s next?

111-1126_imgPOWER – A PIG’S EYE VIEW

During these last few weeks we have witnessed the most extraordinary events, which have demonstrated greed, stupidity and the abuse of power.

We have watched the public cabbage-hurling humiliation of HBOS’s bosses, who are the latest in a long line of others, but surely will not be the last; and the frowning disapproval of the legal beagles whose job it is to bring them to order. We have seen the twists and turns of squirming top bank executives, politicians, speculators, City marketeers, and financiers of all descriptions, and a general public who gave their power away.

We have listened to the blame game of whose fault it is that the world, looking deep into its purse now, finds it has been short-changed. We have watched the papers and TV cautiously, not wanting to hear any more; not wanting to read the next pronouncement of  shocking head-lining news on which Mighty have fallen next, how bad it is and how bad it is going to get. Of course they may all give their bonuses back yet; and of course, pig’s may fly.

What should we do?

If you look at any wisdom on these matters, a few familiar words seem to surface.

“Reap what ye sow”

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be”

“Cut your coat according to your cloth”

“What can you expect from a hog but a grunt”

(Not that that is about money, but it is about pigs, who by the way, are potentially more intelligent than other animals.)

Ok, ok, I won’t rub our noses in it, although that stink of foul play was probably what we all needed to bring our attention to the problem. There is nothing like personal discomfort to wake one up to whatever is wrong.

So who has the power now?

It is most probable, from past experience, that Common Man will be the driving-force to turn the situation around – after all it is our work, earnings and savings that has funded the whole debacle anyway. If those in the position to abuse our funds have misused it, it is up to us to not let it happen again. We really need to make a stand and make our voices heard. Yes, new regulation must be installed, and we need to know that when we put our six-peneth in, we will get at least our six-peneth out.

Do you remember the days before banks? No, I don’t, either. But there are myths and legends a-plenty about mattresses being stuffed with notes, tea-caddies lurking behind the pots and pans, stuffed with the housewife’s shillings, body-belts adding to the mid-riff bulge and piggy banks rattling with the satisfying sound of pennies saved.

What should we do?

I wonder why we, human beings, need to hoard so much money?  Of course, we all grew up with the idea that we should keep a nest-egg – one kept back for that rainy day, when the hen refused to lay, or the fox took her away, or the day we caught a cold, or the day we couldn’t work. When did the nest egg become a gold-mine? Who fed us Fear for breakfast – a fear that made us believe that enough was never enough? Well, now, it seems, we have all caught a cold, and many are being told they can’t work.

We could all cry over spilled milk, (sorry about all the mixed metaphors, but at least they are all down on the farm), but what is done is done. We are going to have a year or two of discontent, that’s pretty certain, yet there may be a glimmer of hope, a new day to start anew, a chance to pull ourselves up by our boot-straps, again.

Those who can, will do this automatically. It is in our blood, to work for our needs, nay, more than needs, the little treat, and maybe the odd luxury, because it is in our genes to survive.

The POWER to change is right within us. Yes, you and I, and all those we love, we can do something towards a new life, a new attitude, a better way, starting from today: economise, make do and mend, tighten the sow’s ear, sorry, purse strings, cut back on our excesses.

It isn’t all that bad. It can be fun, creative, a challenge in the best possible way, and very rewarding. It’ll be like the good old days.

And when we take the power back into our own hands, we shall be more careful about how we look after the pennies so the pounds look after themselves. We will keep our savings in a SAFE place, not hand them over to strangers, bewitched by the promise of hoards of gold at the end of the rainbow, entranced by the get-rich-quick-let’s-be-a-millionaire temptations.

Heads down, brothers and sisters, let the whirl-wind of credit-crunchies panic and run  around like head-less chicken if they will. Steadfastness and fortitude, determination and hard work will see us through. Remember, if you have nothing, you can only lose nothing, and you can’t take it with you, anyway. We may only have two brass farthings left from our comprehensive-retire-early pension plan, but look at it this way – a brass farthing in the hand is worth two in the bank these days.

The power to change things for the better is in the power of thought. The mind is the most powerful thing we have, to use for inner self-empowerment, and to empower others with kindness. We can all be as happy as a pig in sh..!

*Law of Attraction Part 1

PART 1

Communication between two people is such a complex subject any discussion of it will be left wanting.

Primal man and woman responded to clearly defined laws of attraction, to mate and procreate. Like all animals, early humans attracted a mate in an unconscious way, securing the best genetic blueprint for their offspring to survive in an elementally raw, and unpredictable world.

Over millenia the human being has evolved into a deep and meaningful mystical being, with ancestry and history locked into its genetic chemistry and the laws of attraction now involve a chemical alchemy that is almost impossible to fully understand.

It is the belief of many, far more than Establishment statistics would have us believe, that we are far, far more than just animal. In our evolution we have developed sentience, a knowing and understanding of ourselves in relation to our environment and each other that brings the whys and the wherefores of our existence into constant debate.

It may appear that the laws of attraction between two people can go far deeper than for just the purpose of the continuance of the species. The chemical and electrical responses activated within the human body when two people meet is a veritable ‘Big Bang’ in the biology of man and woman.

Anyone who has experienced an intense and spontaneous attraction to a stranger knows what I am talking about here. Consider the number of people one might pass, see, brush against accidentally, shake hands with, or talk to, in an ordinary day, where no such spontaneous reaction occurs, not even a slight awareness of the other person, and then ask the question why him/her, why right now and why such an intense attraction that seems almost like recognition?

We hear people talk about ‘love at first sight’ or’seeing a stranger across a crowded room’ and these people bear witness to this extraordinary phenomenum of spontaneous combustion in human communication.

What purpose would this reaction serve? Obviously it draws two people together; it forces an exchange of attention with each other, bringing each one into an interaction, a brief relationship that may only be understood with hindsight, and then only partially.

Very often these interactions are described as ‘it was as though we had known each other before’, or ‘I felt as though I had known them all my life’. ‘All the hairs on the back of my neck stood up’ is another comment and ‘I had a sudden rush of energy, I suddenly got red hot, my ears were ringing and the rest of the world disappeared!’

There is something happening here that is not about procreation, although the sexual response is extremely strong. The sexual attraction is part of the irresistible urge to get closer, speak with this other person, stay in their company. The magnetism between these two people pulls them inexplicably but inevitably together.

And yet, nine times out of ten a drama unfolds that does not lead to a happy-ever-after ending. Another element starts to show itself and the drama is not enjoyable. Antagonism builds, arguments start, the couple find that they just can’t be together, or have a normal relationship, and then it all implodes, is over and is gone.

Where there was once irresistible attraction, excitement, love, passion, then chaos and eventually something close to hatred, the magic is broken, the drama is dispelled and the two people move away from each other swearing never to set eyes on the other one again.

If this happens, something is not understood. Watch this space for a possible explanation into this extraordinary behaviour between two human beings.

*Law of Attraction Part 2


PART 2

“Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.”

The Law of Attraction does two things. The first is that it will attract opposites, to make a perfect whole. Like yin and yang. The second is that like will attract like. This likeness will attract, as a reflection in the mirror, but will then repel as there is no balance.

Supposing, just supposing, the person you are in a relationship with right now is not who you think they are.

You may feel that you have just found the one person in the world who makes you feel special, who attracts you with the most amazing chemistry, or magnetism and that you have ‘fallen in love’.

If you are ‘opposites’, in every sense of the word, you may set up a home and procreate, which is natural, but that’s not what is being discussed here.

If you are mirroring each other, in any way at all, you will eventually repel each other. It seems that the purpose of attraction is to reflect what you are and what you aint. And if you meet someone mirroring something negative, they have arrived for a purpose.

It may be that this person is outside your marriage, or relationship. They may have suddenly appeared from no-where, unexpectedly, and thrown you into a flat spin.

You may be so distracted by this person that you are demonstrating some unusual behaviour. You may be having wild dreams, possibly erotic. You may find that you want to talk to them constantly, day and night, be with them all the time. You may feel that this attraction is out of your control.

Further down the line, you may find yourself acting out of character, doing things you wouldn’t normally do. You may find that this person has got under your skin and now you are having anxious thoughts about where it is going. The happy ending is not in sight. It’s going a bit wrong.

Eventually you may find that you want to shake yourself awake, get out of the relationship and you can’t. You may have realised by now that things aren’t what you expected, it has got complicated, surreal, and you want out. You think that you have made a big mistake and you are seriously worried.

Now, ask yourself these questions.

“What have I learned about myself during this strange time? What have I done, or what has been done to me that doesn’t feel right? What is making me feel angry, hurt or afraid and what am I blaming this other person for?

Right! Got it? Now apply all your answers to yourself. Own every aspect of this experience as a lesson to correct some aspect that is in yourself, that is out of balance and needs to evolve.

This reflection of you has come into your life just for YOU, to bring some experience to the front of your attention so that you can learn and grow.

A Soul Mate is a person whose spirit is akin to yours. They step into a role, or arrive with certain qualities, just to reflect back to you what is in you and some of it may not be nice.

Look in the mirror. See yourself in the other person. It may be hard to see if it is some quality you don’t like in yourself, something you are denying or pretending is not there, or even something you had no idea was there.

The hardest aspect of this process is that the imbalance may be so deeply hidden, created so far back, even before this life-time, that you may have trouble identifying it.

Look in the mirror that IS the other person, the reflection of yourself.

Why fall in love? Because that is the only way we can be pursuaded to deal with this, lured, if you like, into having an opportunity to address this issue. The mechanics of the magnetism, the attraction, what feels like love, is so complex it really doesn’t matter if you don’t know how it works. What does matter is that you love YOURSELF enough to own it, understand it and let it transform you.

And that you LOVE the other person, who now appears to be the enemy, a rogue, a deceiver, a temptress or seducer, a liar or a thief, or whatever. The other person can now go on their way, when you understand. Thank them and let them go. Job done.

This is not punishment, judgment or something that’s gone wrong. It is the part of you that is working for you, to find balance. In a strange way, the person who has found balance doesn’t need to fall in love. The perfect relationship with another is one where both partners mirror all the good aspects in themselves, as opposites. You think that’s possible? The next stage is no relationship, apart from with yourself, as both yin and yang in one Self.

PART 3

Attractiveness suggests loveliness, something that is a beauty in the eye of the beholder.

As discussed in Part 2, the initial attraction in an unbalanced situation soon turns to a grim reality, a not-so attractive scenario where the ugly truth shows itself. That is only one aspect of the Law of Attraction, but one that serves a very important purpose in bringing one’s conscious awareness to some karmic problem.

Karma is a word heard more and more these days as the spiritual human comes to understand the Law of Creation. Whatever one sows, one will reap later, sometimes in a subsequent life where the seed that was sown has been forgotten. Karma is not all bad, although a lot of it is because for some reason we seem to have accumulated a lot of bad fruits. The sins of the father will be visited on the sons, suggests that it is not an immediate thing. The fruit of the seed sown takes time, maybe more than one life-time, to show itself.

Stevenson had no idea his early coal-driven steam engine would lead to wars, death and destruction in the Middle East. The Seneca Indians had no idea that their oily puddle was the tip of a massive oil-berg that would eventually lead to a poison called plastic.

Nevertheless, the Law of Attraction brings us all rewards too, because many seeds that are sown give the sweet fruits of evolution, creativity, enlightenment, Love and compassion, beauty and knowledge.

There may be a time when an act of kindness, generosity of spirit, compassion, self-sacrifice, voluntary dedication, friendship, loyalty, perseverance, bravery, craftsmanship, artistic accomplishment, purity, honesty and more, sows a seed.

Miracles, Divine intervention, Angelic rescues, windfalls, good luck and even synchronicity [serendipity], are the fruits of such seeds. When something really good just drops on your proverbial plate, rest assured you have deserved it. And it may or may not have anything to do with wealth or success, for a reason.

There is a part of you that knows what is good for you, what you most need and what would help you most. And that part is not the part that would like to win the lottery, retire to a place in the sun and live happily ever after with the partner of your dreams, in a huge mortgage-free house with matching pink Ferrari and Porsche parked outside.

The part of you that knows best may know that winning the lottery is what’s good for you – to learn about wealth, financial management, generosity, begging letters, and losing it all again.

The part of you that knows best may know that what you need is a holiday, a break from routine – to get a new perspective on your empty life.

The part of you that knows best may know that the partner best suited to your evolution happens to be a walking god or goddess who steals your fortune, abuses you and takes away your freedom – to help you wake up, deal with that karma and get back on track.

If your Higher Self and your lower self are in agreement, what you think you want may arrive.

If they are not, no amount of wishing, hoping, focusing, making wish-boards, filling out questionnaires on design-a-man/woman/life will ever bring it about.

Good things come because you have aligned yourself with your Highest Aspect. The good things that come may not be material. They may be a sense of contentment and peace, unconditional love from, and for, those around you, experience of harmony and balance. You may find abundance in the form of knowing you have everything you need, spiritual enlightenment, a joy in your work, Grace and fearlessness, love. This is regardless of what you have, have not, are, are not, do or don’t do.

It could be that the Law of Attraction is only one part of the Law of Creation. It pushes us away from that which does not create and pulls us towards that which does.

*Grand Mother

GRANDMOTHERS and GRANDFATHERS

As the 21st Century progresses we are witnessing on the world stage more horrors and chaos, turmoil and human suffering than ever before. For anyone who has stepped onto their ’spiritual paths’ in the last twenty to thirty or even more years, it must raise the question ‘What’s going on?’

Since the beginning of time, the Grandmothers and Grandfathers of the human race have sat by their fires and wrung their hands, looking through pale eyes that have seen ‘life’ and set deep into the lined faces of those who have walked the earth for a life-time. They were neither the elite, nor masters of the universe but I bet they mostly thought the same thoughts, ‘What’s going on?’ Every generation of elders looks out to a world that has seemingly gone mad. ‘It’s not like the good old days!’ they say, woefully, yet the wisdom of their years has always told them that things will always be like this: the changing world will always seem chaotic. And as Time pulls the good things away into the past, we will be left with memories of ‘the way things were’.

I am an ordinary grandmother. I look at my own babies, now mothers in their thirties; beautiful women, hard-working and balanced in the fulcrum between their parents and their children, yet still feeling inside like the young and free spirits they once were. My mother, a great-grand-mother still puts on her ear-rings and wants to dance. My grand-babies, now pubescants-with-attitude, think they can rule the world but still take a teddy to bed.

But I am a Grand Mother in my visions, my aspirations and my imaginings. I am Grand in my wellies, in my garden planting cabbages, and I am Grand because I have a faith born in a crisis or two and growing daily. I am Grand because I have given birth, endured and survived the pain of labour and because I have so much love I have to hug people and give some away, daily. I am Grand because I have seen such heavenly things beyond this world and because I can bear to witness the suffering in others, knowing there is a higher purpose to it all.

‘What’s going on?’ Life is going on. The more the populaton of this planet increases, the more we will witness life in all its diversity and extremes. The more of those who consider themselves to be the elite, the saved, the chosen ones, the enlightened, the wise, the healed, the wealthy, the successful, the good and the righteous…

the more we could see the opposite.

The buzz on the airwaves is that it is the time of the Grandmothers. It is time for the women of the world to speak out, to bring their way of being to center stage and ask the Grand Masters to step aside for a while. Have the women been absent? Are we not still here, individually enduring and surviving, growing and evolving? Are the men folk all tyrants and bastards, domineering and disempowerment of women? And do we think that because someone has put out the buzzword ‘Grandmothers Speak’ that grandmothers ever stopped speaking? Is it time for Grandfathers to stop speaking now?

This hierarchical view may be new-age fanaticism. Men and women are all humans, and the forces at work in this world and all the other worlds are continually there, and have been since the beginning of time. If the male/female juxtaposition is changing it is surely just a swing of the pendulum. We may feel it, acknowledge it and talk about it but do we control it? Maybe we do and maybe by the power of our thoughts we can change things.

Let us listen to the Grandmothers but not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Let the Grandmothers and the Grandfathers teach us their wisdom.

Perfect balance is when the pendulum stops: yet the very swinging of the pendulum is balance in the making. On this funny old lump of rock, spiralling around the sun, spiralling around in the cosmos, we, the little you and me, are at once the least significant and the most important thing in the universe, purely because we exist, in some form, and seem to be aware of it. And we call her Mother Earth, this rock. Now she is a Grand Mother. And the Grand Father? So, ‘What’s going on?’

The vision of the Spirit Grandmothers speaking their message comes at a time when women are definitely changing. We are bold and beautiful, caring and fearsome; we have opinions, views and wisdom; we are pro-active and gentle, can cry with laughter and cry with sorrow. Every now and then the Spirit World sends us a vision of love and hope, support and guidance, and we thank the Grandmothers for coming at this time.

It will give us the strength to love our men even more, stand up to them and put them right when they are wrong, and listen to their stories, dreams and worries, while holding their hands. We will shout across the land when we have had enough of horror, suffering and destruction and we will paint our art in acts of kindness, forgiveness and understanding. Just the way women do.

*Yin/Yang Perfection

Hermes was a handsome Greek god and Aphrodites was a beautiful Greek goddess and they were so perfectly matched, reflected each other so perfectly, that their union in love gave birth to Hermaphroditus. A picture of him/her can be seen on the last card in the Major Acana of the Greek Mythic Tarot – ‘The World’. The teaching of this card in the Tarot is one of balance, unity, perfection and being whole. The four elements of earth, water, fire and air come together as a perfection of creation through the evolution of all the human aspects: the physical being, the intellect, the imagination and the emotions. Beauty is seen as the imaginative and logical mind working creatively together and unconditional love as the expression of the enlightened spiritual being through the earthly human being.

Let us imagine for one moment a simple possibility. If the ‘Whole’ is all the aspects of life between the poles of gender existence, from one extreme, masculinity, to the other, femininity, together in Oneness, and the separation of these two polarities is for the purpose of evolution, experience, knowledge and Self-consciousness, the journey away from and back to the ‘Whole’ is ‘Life’. From the beginning of Time, back to the end of Time, we can explore ‘Life’. The polymorphic reproduction of life is what life on earth is all about, and this is the source of our anxieties about genetic interference, modification and cloning.

Somewhere on this journey, we, as human beings, will experience being male or being female, with the potential to be the other in recession. The moment we become conscious of the opposite state hidden within us, we find ourselves in a position of choice. We can be one or the other, or both, to any degree at any one time. Picture the Managing Director of a Global Conglomerate wearing high heels and lipstick. The two aspects wouldn’t normally go together, in our view of a male and female world, but it has already happened. Imagine a six foot muscular, hairy truck driver feeding the baby. Again, another strange situation to imagine, yet I am sure there are some nurturing truckies out there. But why? Does a woman have to lose her femininity to rule in a ‘man’s world’; and does a man have to lose his masculinity to participate in a ‘woman’s world’? We allocate these roles to each gender purely because the traits of the gender lend themselves more easily to the role. But should that rule out the choice to swap roles?

Likewise, in a less extreme situation, can boys and girls both learn to cook and play football? Of course they can. But can men wear women’s clothes? Can women wear men’s clothes? Absolutely! In fact many men find women in dungarees and a hard hat very attractive and I have to admit the long dark locks and silk shirt of a Regency dandy quite appeals to me! Why? Because the sexuality/gender of the person is not only about what we wear. I have seen many strong, non-high-heels-and-lipstick feminine women become mothers, go about their career, choice of life-style or activity without any criticism. And there are many non-hairy, non-muscular men who are beautiful and soft and still very male and good fathers.

Since the very early beginnings of theatre, men and women have changed roles. The Greek Mythologies are full of men being women and women being men. Pantomimes still play with this form of entertainment. Angels are seen as being neither male nor female and both together. They are perceived as tall and strong, wise beyond our knowing, gentle and kind and beautiful, handsome and graceful. They are pure Light. [Actually I see them as vibrating webs of golden thread, patterns of conscious intelligence and not human in form but that's another story].

There are, however, areas of modern life where men and women who act out-of-role, or feel differently and wish to live honestly with that, incite the wrath of public opinion; they upset the proverbial apple cart and seem to present some gender blurring, or morality questions we should be finding a solution for. It is just a matter of being open-minded, thinking outside-the-box for a moment. If a person’s appearance upsets us then we are living in the wrong century! Surely, by now, we have enough diversity in personal taste, physicality, fashion, culture and national differences to be tolerant to anything new and different. In the world of art, there is a direct intention to re-create what we already know into new concepts. In the world of fashion, the haute-couture designers push out and destroy the boundaries of conventionalism every day. So it is not so much about what we look like. There seems to be something else more subtle and hidden that will make us feel a gender difference is uncomfortable, or wrong in some way.

This week has seen a first in the world of the internet: the online debut of the works of Charles Darwin.

Chapter I ‘The Descent of Man’, Charles Darwin

‘HE who wishes to decide whether man is the modified descendant of some pre-existing form, would probably first inquire whether man varies, however slightly, in bodily structure and in mental faculties’.

If nothing else, Darwin set out, over a life-time, to study the effect of time on living things. He observed so much diversity that he suspected a natural law at work which aroused his curiosity. How did living creatures become so different? The more he looked the more diversity he found. His conclusion was that we are evolving, changing all the time, according to the influences of living in this world and with each other. He concluded that it was inevitable that we would change. I wonder if he ever thought that what he was observing on his travels was a prototype, a work in progress, or an end result?

The human embryo in its first stage of gestation is neither gender; it is an androgen [although some say the cells are actually female, probably because they are being created within the female body], but at around 8 weeks, one gender is favoured. This primary stage is a living replica of the primary stage in the evolution of life on Earth and each stage of development of the young embryo, foetus, baby and child replicates the evolution of man, through all the animal forms. The toddler is demonstrating the time when we, humans, stood up and became erect. We are continuing this evolution now. It may just be, hypothetically, that the end result will be a hermaphrodite, the male and female in one body, able to reproduce asexually.

Do we as humans have an arrogance about us being an end result, the top of the class, perfection? I don’t honestly think the majority of human beings think that. But some seem to think that their opinion is correct and final.

If religion has any positive role to play I shall expound my theories on it another day. One development of religion is that it gives some folk the right to judge others. If they are not matching the model of their religion, all others must be faulty. Enough said.

In the urge to criticise and judge, we humans show a lack of understanding about how we perceive another. We don’t like to feel uncomfortable and if we have to witness someone very different to ourselves, we feel threatened in some way and the first line of defense is attack. This is a primal reflex to a stranger, something unknown and different – not a member or our clan or tribe. But when we judge it to be wrong, we are not recognising the possibility that that trait is in us too.

What I would like everyone to think about is this: If there is going to be diversity in this world, and that diversity has a purpose, then we should not be criticising any form of life. Whatever gender, male or female, male/female, female/male, colour, shape, size or height we happen to be we may be perfection-in-the-making. Whatever gift, talent, style, view, expression we happen to have we may be perfection-in-the-making. But if anyone of us is having a bad day, suffering, in pain, lost, lonely or sad, we may have forgotten that we are perfection-in-the-making and may need a little help and a little tolerance and understanding from others.

A REMINDER OF THE ‘ORIGINAL’ INTERPRETATION OF THE MAYAN PROPHECY FOR 2012

Carlos Barrios was born into a Spanish family on El Altiplano, the highlands of Guatemala. His home was in Huehuetenango, also the dwelling place of the Maya Mam tribe. With other Maya and other indigenous tradition keepers, the Mam carry part of the old ways on Turtle Island (North America). They are keepers of time, authorities on remarkable calendars that are ancient, elegant and relevant. Mr. Barrios is a historian, an anthropologist and investigator. After studying with traditional elders for 25 years, since the age of 19, he has also became a Mayan Ajq’ij – a ceremonial priest and spiritual guide; Eagle Clan. Years ago, along with his brother, Gerardo, Carlos initiated an investigation into the different Mayan calendars. He studied with many teachers. He says his brother Gerardo interviewed nearly 600 traditional Mayan elders to widen their scope of knowledge.”Anthropologists from around the world visit the temple sites,” Barrios says, “and read the inscriptions and make up stories about the Maya, but they do not read the signs correctly. It’s just their imagination. Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012.

The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed. The indigenous have the calendars, and know how to accurately interpret it, not others. The Mayan Calendars comprehension of time, seasons, and cycles has proven itself to be vast and sophisticated. The Maya understand 17 different calendars, some of them charting time accurately over a span of more than ten million years. The calendar that has steadily drawn global attention since 1987 is called the Tzolk’in or Cholq’ij. Devised ages ago and based on the cycle of the Pleiades, it is still held as sacred. With the indigenous calendars, native people have kept track of important turning points in history. For example, the day keepers who study the calendars identified an important day in the year One Reed, Ce Acatal, as it was called by the Mexicans. That was the day when an important ancestor was prophesied to return – “Coming like a butterfly.” In the western calendar, the One Reed date correlates to Easter Sunday, April 21, 1519 the day that Hernando Cortez and his fleet of 11 Spanish galleons arrived from the East at what is today called Vera Cruz, Mexico. When the Spanish ships came toward shore, native people were waiting and watching to see how it would go. The billowing sails of the ships did indeed remind the scouts of butterflies skimming the ocean surface. A new era initiated, an era they had anticipated through their calendars. The Maya termed the new era the Nine Bolomtikus, or nine Hells of 52 years each. As the nine cycles unfolded, land and freedom were taken from the native people. Disease and disrespect dominated. What began with the arrival of Cortez lasted until August 16, 1987, a date many people recall as Harmonic Convergence.

Millions of people took advantage of that date to make ceremony in sacred sites – praying for a smooth transition to a new era, the World of the Fifth Sun. From August 1987 until now we have been in a time when the right arm of the materialistic world is disappearing, slowly but inexorably. We are at the cusp of the era when peace begins, when people live in harmony with Mother Earth. We are no longer in the World of the Fourth Sun, but we are not yet in the World of the Fifth Sun. This is the time of transition, the time in-between. As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth changes. All this, Mr. Barrios says, was foreseen via the simple, spiral mathematics of the Mayan calendars and it will change. Everything will change. Mayan Day keepers view the DEC. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from and signified by the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy. At sunrise on December 21, 2012, for the first time in 26,000 years, the Sun will rise to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic. This cosmic cross is considered to be an embodiment of the Sacred Tree, The Tree of Life, a tree remembered in all the worlds’ spiritual traditions. Some observers say this alignment with the heart of the galaxy in 2012 will open a channel for cosmic energy to flow through the earth, cleansing it and all that dwells upon it – raising all to a higher level of vibration. This process has already begun, Mr. Barrio suggested. “Change is accelerating now, and it will continue to accelerate. If the people of the earth can get to this 2012 date in good shape without having destroyed too much of the Earth, we will rise to a new, higher level. But to get there we must transform enormously powerful forces that seek to block the way.

The date specified in the calendar, Winter Solstice in the year 2012, does not mark the end of the world. Many outside people writing about the Mayan calendar sensationalize this date, but they do not know. The ones who know are the indigenous elders who are entrusted with keeping the tradition. From his understanding of the Mayan tradition and the calendars, Mr Barrios offered a picture of where we are at and what may lie on the road ahead.

“Humanity will continue,” he contends, “but in a different way. Material structures will change. From this we will have the opportunity to be more human. We are living in the most important era of the Mayan calendars and prophecies. All the prophecies of the world, all the traditions, are converging now. There is no time for games. The spiritual ideal of this era is action. Many powerful souls have reincarnated in this era, with a lot of power. This is true on both sides – the light and the dark. High magic is at work on both sides. Things will change, but it is up to the people how difficult or easy it is for the changes to come about. Now the economy is a fiction. The first five-year stretch of transition from August 1987 to August 1992 was the beginning of the destruction of the material world. By now we have progressed ten years deeper into the transition phase, and many of the so-called sources of financial stability are in fact hollow. The banks are weak. This is a delicate moment for them. They could crash globally if we don’t pay attention. If the banks crash… then we will be forced to rely on the land and our skills. The monetary systems will be in chaos, and we must then rely on our direct relationship with the Earth for our food and shelter.

The North and South Poles are both breaking up. The level of the water in the oceans is going to rise. But at the same time land in the ocean, especially near Cuba, is also going to rise.”

A Call for Fusion.

As he met with audiences in Santa F, Mr Barrios told a story about the most recent Mayan New Year ceremonies in Guatemala. He said that one respected elder, who lives all year in a solitary mountain cave, journeyed to Chichicastenango to speak with the people at the ceremony. The elder delivered a simple, direct message. He called for human beings to come together in support of life and light. Right now each person and group is going his or her own way. The elder of the mountains said there is hope if the people of the light can come together and unite in some way.

Reflecting on this, Mr. Barrios explained:

“We live in a world of polarity – day and night, man and woman, positive and negative. Light and darkness need each other. They are a balance. Just now the dark side is very strong, and very clear about what they want. They have their vision and their priorities clearly held, and also their hierarchy. They are working in many ways so that we will be unable to connect with the spiral Fifth World in 2012. On the light side everyone thinks they’re the most important, that their personal understanding, or their group’s understanding, is the key. There are diverse cultures and opinions, so there is competition, diffusion, and a lack of single focus.”

As Mr. Barrios sees it, the dark side works to block fusion through denial and materialism. It also works to destroy those who are working with the light to get the Earth to a higher level. They like the energy of the old declining Fourth World, the materialism. They do not want it to change. They do not want fusion. They want to stay at this level, and are afraid of the next level. The dark power of the declining Fourth World cannot be destroyed or overpowered. It’s too strong and clear for that, and that is the wrong strategy. The dark can only be transformed when confronted with simplicity and open-heartedness. This is what leads to fusion – a key concept for the World of the Fifth Sun. Mr Barrios said the emerging era of the Fifth Sun will call attention to a much overlooked element.

Whereas the four traditional elements of earth, air, fire and water have dominated various epochs in the past, there will be a fifth element to reckon with in the time of the Fifth Sun: ether. Ether is a medium. The dictionary defines ether as the rarefied element of the Heavens. It permeates all space and transmits waves of energy in a wide range of frequencies, from cell phones to human auras. What is “ethereal” is related to the regions beyond earth: the heavens. Ether, the element of the Fifth Sun, is celestial and lacking in material substance, but is no less real than wood, stone or flesh. “Within the context of ether there can be a fusion of the polarities,” Mr. Barrios said. “No more darkness or light in the people, but an uplifted fusion. But right now the realm of darkness is not interested in this. They are organized to block it. They seek to unbalance the Earth and its environment so we will be unprepared for the alignment in 2012. We need to work together for peace, and balance with the other side. We need to take care of the Earth that feeds and shelters us. To be ready for this moment in History we need to put our entire mind and heart into pursuing unity and fusion now, to confront the other side and preserve life. We are at a critical moment of world history. “We are disturbed,” Mr Barrios said. “We can’t play anymore. Our planet can be renewed or ravaged. Now is the time to awaken and take action. Everyone is needed. You are not here for no reason. Everyone who is here now has an important purpose. This is a hard, but very special time. We have the opportunity for growth, but we must be ready for this moment in history.”

Mr Barrios offered a number of suggestions to help people walk in balance through the years ahead. “The prophesied changes are going to happen,” he said, “but our attitude and actions determine how harsh or mild they are. We need to act, to make changes, and to elect people to represent us who understand and take political action to respect the earth. Meditation and spiritual practice are good and important and so is action. It’s very important to be clear about who you are, and also about your relation to the Earth. Develop yourself according to your own tradition and the call of your heart. But remember to respect differences, and strive for unity. Eat wisely. A lot of food is corrupt with toxins in either subtle or gross ways. Pay attention to what you are taking into your body. Learn to preserve food, and to conserve energy. Learn some good breathing techniques, so you have the mastery of your breath. Be clear. Follow a tradition with great roots. It is not important what tradition – your heart will tell you – but it must have great roots. We live in a world of energy. An important task at this time is to learn to sense or see the energy of everyone and everything – people, plants, and animals. This becomes increasingly important as we draw close to the World of the Fifth Sun, for it is associated with the element ether – the realm where energy lives and weaves. Go to the sacred places of the earth to pray for peace and have respect for the Earth, which gives us our food, shelter and clothing. We need to reactivate the energy of these sacred places. That is our work. We have work to do!”

According to Mr Barrios, one simple but effective prayer technique is to light a white or baby-blue coloured candle. “Think a moment in peace. Speak your intention to the flame and send the light of it on to the leaders who have the power to make war or peace. This is a crucially important moment for humanity and for earth. Each person is important. You have incarnated into this era because you have spiritual work to do. Our work is to balance the planet.” The elders have opened the doors so that other races can come to the Mayan world to receive the tradition. The Maya have long appreciated and respected that there are other colours, other races, and other spiritual systems. They know that the destiny of the Mayan world is related to the destiny of the whole world.”The greatest wisdom is in simplicity,” Mr Barrios advised. “Love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude and forgiveness: it’s not complex or elaborate”.

Real knowledge is free. It’s encoded in your DNA. All that you need is within you.

Have all the prophecies not been coming true for decades, centuries even? Is it all doom and gloom or is there light at the end of the tunnel?  :-) (

The general theory is that at this particular time, all these upheavals will be intensified  and be the direct result of a rare and catastrophic, or miraculous event. And there you have it. Anyone interested in this subject will fall into one of three categories:

  1. one of positivity that this is where those who have been enlightened will ascend and be saved :~))
  2. one of negativity in the belief that this is the end of the world }:<((
  3. one of confusion }:~s

BUT – if all the above is predicting a period of re-alignment in our galaxy, passing through a belt of Light and regeneration, we can expect upheavals BUT in a way that could bring enlightenment; a falling away of what is disused, decaying and dead; a chance to begin again, start afresh as the phoenix rises from the ashes; to build a new life in a new way, with an understanding of the Law of Creation, in peace, love and harmony.

Immediately after reading that, I hope that you will be thinking that you, your loved ones and the Earth are those who are in with a chance of survival, on any level.

how you think, and act, from what you believe will make all the difference ~:-|

Whatever circumstances you find yourself in, it will be down to you to behave in the best way possible. As in any severe condition, those who already have a strong survival instinct, and skills to match, will have a distinct advantage. It may not be about having more money, property, position, power and material things, but more about having more flexibility, ability to be adaptable, inventiveness, intuition, willingness to act or work for what you need and do without that which is not important. It may be a time to re-evaluate our lives, singly, and collectively, and think more carefully about the future.

Whether the chaos predicted is social, political, financial, health-related, climatic, geological, global, galactic, or spiritual, your preparation needs to be in self-reliance, self-responsibility and self-sufficiency. A well-trained mind that can focus and think clearly, an ability to stay calm and be fearless and a willingness to work well and help each other, will bring good results. For many people, their spiritual well-being is paramount.

I recommend that you continue your good practices, increase your skills or at least get started :~)

Looking back over what we know from history, it is easy to see that this is not the first time we have experienced a major cataclysm. We cannot stop changes, big or small, because it is within Nature – in cyclic changes – that evolution happens.

Resistance, denial and fear are the elements that cause pain and suffering. Acceptance, understanding and trust are the elements that generate the creative process.

When I was a little girl, I had epic dreams, night after night. Sometimes they spiralled down into nightmares of the most horrific kind and I would wander into my parents’ bedroom in the dark in search of solace. There had been nothing in my life to date to warrant the machinations of the mind that I was getting. My life was stable and happy. I had a lovely complete family around me and all seemed well. So from where was I sourcing the material about which to dream?

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Shakespeare, Hamlet Act 1, scene 5, 159–167

As I grew older, the dreams kept up a lively pace, and some of them were understandable, while the majority remained a complete mystery to me. I learned to live with them, discussed them with no-one and just kept going. By the time I was about forty, they were prolific and even more emotionally charged, adventurous and elaborate. This surreal aspect of my life had been accompanied by one other phenomenon, which was painful and debilitating – migraine attacks.

Then I had a mid-life crisis, where just about everything I had known and relied on as the constructs of my life collapsed around me. After the climax of that crisis had passed I gradually recovered. During that time, for a short while, I slept all day and stayed awake all night. Then I became psychic. (I was not and never have been ‘psychotic’)

I could see in a very different way, non-physical things and the symbolic overtones of material existence, and I had out-of-body experiences where I was fully conscious. It was because of these OBEs that I knew my consciousness operated away from my body. I was over here, thinking, in a conversational way, to myself. And my body, which I could see physically, was over there, fast asleep. And I could go right away from it, visiting other places. The mode of transport was thought. But travel was outside of time – instant. I could also accurately dream future events, into which I stepped, later in time.

I met someone in 1991who changed my life regarding this – Dr. Serena Ronay Dougal, a psychiatrist and healer, who gave a talk on dreams and lucid dreaming. After that I really started to tap into what my dreams meant, and most of them stopped, especially the nightmares. The ones that kept coming were very different in nature, and very interesting.

Next, I discovered that all the major planets in my birth chart were in the night-time hours. This seemed to be having a direct influence on how I related to the world. I have had nocturnal tendencies most of my life. I am captivated by the night sky. I am a ‘day-dreamer’. I love to go for a walk in the dark. I have often journeyed out at night and enjoyed the silence of a world at sleep. I love driving in the early hours of the morning. I write late into the night.

After all this my migraines stopped.

I had never really thought of myself as having a particular gift, but looking back, I can see that this talent for dreaming has given me a source of enlightenment. It is a source of inspiration, imagination, different perspectives on things and I have learned the value of symbolism. I believe it is the language of our spirit. It is the language of religion, of energy and dimensional mathematics, of spiritual knowledge, of the esoteric wisdom that has been passed down through the centuries and every aspect of the natural world. And all those aspects of the visible and unseen world communicate through our dreams, in a language of pure symbolism, which is colourful, exciting, adventurous, alarming, magnificent and dramatic – just like an epic film. Stories and metaphors are the writer’s art of using a language of symbology that speaks directly to the spirit.

The scientific fraternity would like to convince us that a dream is just the brain having aberrations – chemical reactions, electrical impulses firing off randomly, or the memory replaying like a badly recorded video, and none of the content of a dream important.

“To sleep — perchance to dream. Ay, there’s the rub!

For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,

When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,” Shakespeare, Hamlet (III, i, 65-68)lights2

Surely, dreaming has to be more than the functions of the physical brain. And dreaming has to have a purpose. If the brain is the processor, a bio-computer, and the physical senses help us respond, what are we responding to, and why? The MIND, known as the aspect of our thinking processes, may not be in the brain, as I experienced when it was active outside of my body. We are all far more than bio-electronic machines, and we all know it. Each of us seems to be able to use our minds in different ways, sometimes to great and important effect and sometimes for nothing much at all. It seems we can choose.

If the mind is a link – like a telephone cord from a transmitter to a receiver – who, what or where is the transmitter and likewise, the receiver? Perhaps both the body and the spirit can transmit both ways, via the mind. Thought is an electro-energetic pulse, a vibration, travelling via the mind. When thoughts are received they arrive like ideas, inspiration, revelations, and they appear to come ‘out of thin air’, ‘out of the blue’, or ‘off the top of your head’. When thoughts are created from inside, from fears, worries, anger, jealousy, regret or hurt, or pre-occupation with the mundane, they are transmitted but where do they go and what effect do they have?

Studies have shown that when we are asleep these thought processes continue without our conscious or physical participation. Sleep developed during our evolution, probably to give us time off at night when we couldn’t see what we were doing and perhaps to digest food. Some animals evolved night vision to capitalise on the dark hours, probably because it was cooler, and they sleep, and dream, during the day.

When this communication is very active but the information does not filter through to the conscious mind, it can cause difficulties, and pain. It is as though we are asleep when we are awake and awake when we are asleep. I think this is what happened to me. I didn’t know how to externalise the thoughts I was receiving. It was only when my life was disrupted and my nights and days were reversed, that I finally ‘woke up’.

Many spiritual awakenings occur after a personal crisis, when the individual experiences a breakdown of some description. This is followed by a new lease of life with radical changes in thoughts and beliefs. Occasionally a mental disorder or anomaly in an individual brings forth a new concept or perception.

NANCY TAPPE

One example is Nancy Tappe, who had a rare brain disorder called synaesthesia. Because of this her perceptions allowed her to experience life conceptually, not logically. She could taste shapes, and see personality types as colours, 15 in all. Then one day she noticed a new colour, Indigo, but it was only from babies. She realised that a new type of personality was being born. (Approx 30 yrs ago).

Another example is described by this well know journalist, while she was experiencing a mild stroke.

“In that moment I knew that there are two parts to my being. There is the gross physical aspect, which is intimately wedded to my logical brain, which in itself is intimately wedded to my ego. You can think of this as the incessant chatter that fills your being and the mechanical advisory part that tells your body how to function. Then there is another part, an amazing part of who you are. It is as quiet as a whisper. It is huge and expansive. For me the experience of feeling this part was almost like being pure love. In those brief couple of seconds I was the world and the world was me. I was unafraid, and filled with awe and an incredible sense of joy and wonder and connectedness. The practice of meditation, prayer, or quiet solitude in Nature can provide a time when the chattering mind can be switched off and we can hear our received, higher thoughts. Occupations like walking, writing, composing music, inventing, exploring, or doing art, also allows our Higher Knowledge and creative channelling to come through.

If dreams were not important, I am sure they wouldn’t happen. I have been inspired, entertained, intellectually stretched, exhausted and enlightened by my dreams. I have had dreams, in very clear detail, in full techno-colour but also dark, misty elusive grey dreams. I have danced, skated and run, several inches off the ground and willed myself into an upward spiral to fly like Superman. I have learned what I was worried about in my dreams and I have also learned that my mind is definitely not in my body. I went to India once, in a dream, and met a beautiful young woman doctor, who showed me the poor and sick, and her apothecary, all in hundreds of blue-painted little drawers. She had long black hair and wore a turquoise silk sari. When I woke up I was exhausted and it took a few moments to move. I have never been to India, in my body.

This seems to be an important aspect of lucid dreaming – being in a temporary paralysis. It has been proved that there is a small part of the brain that is responsible for keeping us physically still while we journey to the world of dreams, to protect us perhaps, or maybe to limit us, or even to keep us in this world while we travel to another. I don’t know.

I do know that before I could understand and work with my dreams I experienced a lot of pain. My nightmares seemed to be a gathering of the detritus of life, monstrous beings set on destruction and hopeless situations in which I was imprisoned. When I looked around me, I could see these things were real for some people, but they were nothing to do with me in this life. How could I imagine them so completely? How can any of us imagine something we have not experienced? Would not an un-experienced scenario appear as a flat, two-dimensional, lifeless and unfeeling picture with no meaning?

My personal reflections on dreams do not prove anything, but we have adopted the word dream to mean more than what happens to our mind while we are asleep. To have a dream is to have the imagination to envisage something that is not yet manifest. To dream up a new scheme, plan or course of action, implies that to not have the imagination to change things, keeps us in a lower place. And the ultimate dream is of a nirvana, a Utopia, a heavenly state where all the struggles, horrors and pain of this world disappear and we can exist in beauty, grace, peace and happiness.shapes5

Famous inventors, composers, scientists, mathematicians, and more have discovered new concepts, answers to problems, and new and beautiful creations to delight the world, through their dreams. I have gone to sleep with a crossword clue in my mind and the answer is there in the morning, without any effort.

Dreaming for an answer is a personal faculty of mine, which I don’t think is difficult, but then I could be called a professional dreamer – I can dream for other people. I put it down to the fact that my conscious memory is not adequate to retain information, facts or figures and so I store it somewhere else, to be retrieved later, or I visit a facility where all information is kept, like a library, and look in a reference book, or ask an expert.

RUDOLPH STEINER talked of the ‘Akashic records’, an esoteric concept of a record of all-that-is for all-of-time.

“From his clairvoyant reading of the Akashic Record – the cosmic memory of all events, actions, and thoughts – Rudolf Steiner was able to speak of aspects of the life of Jesus Christ that are not contained in the four biblical Gospels.” (The Fifth Gospel, by Rudolph Steiner)

The imaginative mind can perhaps use the idea of a library, or wise being, or a data file in some etheric form, where all knowledge can be accessed. I wonder if this is not a use of our DNA, the coded molecular blue-print of all living things. But that suggests that it is a store of what has been, all the way back through our evolution. What about what hasn’t happened yet? Or has it happened as a potential happening, and just not brought into time yet?

Are our imaginings only constructs from the building blocks of what we already know, or can we bring into play a completely new concept, image or creative thought? Whether we understand the exact mechanics of dreaming or not, I encourage and invite everyone to at least take notice of their dreams; to extract any vital message, revelation or new knowledge from them and bring it to the table of discovery for the world to delight in.

Post Trauma Stress Disorder and Genetic Input

During a trauma we suffer stress: physical, mental, emotion stress. After, we expect to recover, over time. The symptoms can vary from person to person. ‘Strong’ people recover normally but some people, perhaps more sensitive, and possibly seen as ‘weak’ people, take longer. Some people don’t recover and they never reclaim an ‘ordinary’ life. This latter group of sufferers is now diagnosed as having PTSD – Post Trauma Stress Disorder.

With regard to the article sent to me by friend and journalist, Brenda Hanson, outlining the results of a study done on a group of PTSD suffers in Canada, reported in Thunder Bay [Variants in stress-related gene help ...

It is always exciting when a new discovery is made. It is then up to us to decide whether this discovery adds to our knowledge or not, and whether it can be utilised to good effect. The scientific world looks to prove something, with clinical trials to provide data and statistics. When this backs up previously held suspicions or beliefs it is a wonderful thing. We must, at all times ask whether the new information expands our wisdom on things, rather than just making a statement that limits us.

Are the faulty genes the cause of the problem or are they the end result of a problem? To allocate the cause of any dis-order to faulty genes, we may run the risk of limiting ourselves, by halting the ever-necessary investigation into the true nature of dis-ease. We could say ‘Ah! We have found the dastardly culprit, now we can blame it and stop looking!’ But does that lead us to a healing process and a cure?

If a sufferer is told ‘It’s in your genes’ the general assumption of a lay-person may be that it’s just their bad luck and that there is nothing more they can do about it.

This doesn’t mean that the identification of a contributing gene may not be relevant. It may be relevant in identifying the person who may be more prone to the condition – QED- but not that their fate is not only pre-determined but that it is also final and fatal.

Should we not ask, when considering the cause of a disorder, to research into the possible purpose of that disorder? PTSD is a set of symptoms, not a disease from a known virus, for example. Each person who is presenting any one of, or all of the identified symptoms is a unique case and is presenting a unique, to them, set of circumstances. PTSD is possibly the acute or chronic stage of other stresses, which are coped with but at this level the person just cannot cope any longer and there is a breakdown, physically, mentally and emotionally. PTSD becomes evident after an accumulation of stress, or excessive stress. The external, circumstantial causes can be from any type of trauma.

To land conveniently on the genetic platform and announce ‘eureka!- this is the cause’, is bypassing the problem, for it requires another leap to saying it is the cure. Nevertheless, there has to be benefits of knowing the gene state.

  • The presence of the gene can be a contribution to the solution

  • The presence of the gene can identify the level at which stress becomes acute and PTSD

  • The presence of the gene can identify groups of people who accumulate such levels of stress.

Dis-ease and dis-order is the physical outcome and end result of a disruption in the well-being, safety, life-force, spirit/body relationship and evolution of the person. It can also be the set of keys to unlock the cure.

Any one gene which is seen to be contributing to a certain condition can be looked at as the cause, but then we must ask the question ‘How did that gene become the signature of that condition?’ If a gene brings about a physical manifestation, it will be seen as the cause, but what caused it to be different.? What is the cause of its nature? What happened to it to make it different to others and create a pattern within itself to cause that condition? Is it possible that the condition itself, over generations, caused the gene to change?

Do potential soccer-playing genes, accumulating information and creating specific patterns over generations, suddenly present a soccer-player gene?

Genes are the patterns of DNA held in the chromosomes that split during fertilisation of the ovum. The accumulated information from past milennia forms patterns which shows up as a personal attribute, physical feature, character trait or defect in the person. Some are good, some are bad, all are changing. Evolution determines those that survive and those that disappear by making the person strong or weak. This is Darwinism. There is another ‘ism’ and that is that we, as incarnating spirits choose the lineage that can offer us the best circumstances for us to evolve in, as a spiritual being. ‘Spiritualism’. Either way we have a very diverse gene-pool to choose from.

Continual ’stress’ will sift the proverbial wheat from the chaff. Some of us will weaken under stress and some of us will thrive. All humans who start demonstrating the inability to cope with stress, [hard-ship, shock, trauma, degradation, malnutrition, lack of love, etc.,] will find an opportunity to find a new approach to coping. They will seek it out, investigate, experiment, persevere and survive, or cave in and perish. And there will always be doctors, scientists, therapists and healers to help them.

At this time in history we have an opportunity to strengthen our inherent genetic patterning with some very new, innovative, ground-breaking, exciting and positive approaches, with new understanding of how the mind works, the spirit/body relationship and the role of diet and natural medicines. Perhaps we are remembering and rediscovering some very old ways, too.

In days gone by, a soldier finding himself unable to cope with the extra-ordinary stresses of the war he has to fight, the battle-field he finds himself on and the conditions he has to deal with to either live or die, will have several choices.

  • He may just survive, by the skin of his teeth, and with a lot of good luck.

  • He may do something extra-ordinary and be held up as a hero

  • He may find he doesn’t have a choice and gets killed

  • He may not cope and run away, or tries to.

  • He may just survive long enough to come home, only to find his life is in ruins and his ability to recover from his injuries has gone

In the old days all surviving soldiers were heralded as heroes – some more than others and those got medals. Those who suffered ’shell shock’ didn’t recover. Those who ran away were shot. They were branded ‘cowards’, ‘weak’, or having ‘low moral fibre’, or ‘LMF’.

I saw a TV program on the subject of heroism: why and how heroic deeds were done and who became a ‘hero’. Out of the 6 veterans that were featured, who had been awarded medals for bravery, not one of the six knew they were being brave at the time. Not one of the six had decided to be a hero. Not one of the six thought of themselves as heroes and not one of the six had their medal on display or talked about it.

Is it all about being in the right or wrong place, at the right or wrong time? Or is it about having the right or wrong genes? Or is it that at any one time any one of us has a choice? Do we know we have that choice at the time or do we just find ourselves doing something? Who we are and how we got to be that person is such a complex subject, it is a lifetime’s study.

If we believe that this one life is all there is, then nothing matters anyway; none of it is for any reason, it has no purpose; it is just an accidental occurrence and not worth discussing.

But we all know that that’s not the case. We know that what we do in any situation affects others as well as ourselves. In that case what we do is important and if it is important it’s not just for five minutes self-gratification. It must have a lasting significance, even after our passing and if that’s the case then we are all experiencing now the lasting effects of what happened before – that which others did before us.

If the genes we inherit were designed by our ancestors, everything they did to evolve those genes, to change them for better or worse, are in us now and it is up to us to do what we will with them. So what do I do if I inherit a bad gene which will pre-dispose me to cope badly with stress; what do I do about it? Roll over, give up and die? Go to a shop and but a new one? Or re-design the one I’ve got? I guess re-designing a gene takes some time, so where do I start?

What came first, the chicken or the egg? If I am past the age of passing on my genes to my offspring, how does changing my genes benefit anyone else? The Native Americans say that whenever I heal myself, I do it for all my relations: ‘Mitakwe Oyasin’. So what do I change?

I change the way I think. I change the way I view things, get a new perspective. I change the way I do things, behave differently. I can change the way I deal with things. And I can show others that I didn’t give up, that I can learn from it and in that way help others that come after me. Wounds heal. Stress can be relieved. Lessons can be learned. PTSD can be cured. Genes can change, in us and in those who learn from us.

But that is only the physical, mental and emotional side. What about the non-physical side? This, I know, is hard for a lot of people to understand. If I start talking about ‘energy’ or ’spirit’ many people will think I am talking about fairies, or ghosts, and religion. I am talking about neither.

It is scientifically proven that we are energy – vibrating, moving, living energy which ranges across such a wide spectrum that we can only see one part, hear one part, sense another part and have no idea about the rest. Some people, like me, ’see’ and ’sense’ more than others and so I ‘know’ there is more to life than what we are physically aware of. [Convincing others is more difficult].

It is also proven that energy is influenced by thought and so how and what we think is a relevant point to discuss.

If someone who has a disability in coping with post trauma stress is told ‘It’s because you have a different, faulty or bad gene’, they will lose hope in ever recovering. If they are told they can be helped, hope returns. Positive thoughts return and already things are changing for the better.

When someone who understands and can communicate with the complex negative thoughts and memories in the unconscious mind and can work synergistically, i.e. using a variety of techniques together, and can say ‘we can help you’, even more hope comes to the sufferer.

And when the Power of healing – the highly charged energy – that moves, re-charges and re-enlivens every atom of that person, even in the genes, that person will feel so much hope, have so many positive thoughts, that any inherited gene that says ‘you will not cope with stress and you will not recover well from trauma’ will begin to change. The encoded information will change. Preset negative and destructive patterns will reorganise themselves and start to create a new pattern and the consciousness in that gene will be changed. The new consciousness in that gene will return to the collective consciousness after death with a different message and will then return in a new life with new abilities. It will have evolved.

The term ‘Akashic Records’ [origin unknown] describes the unlimited store of information about all life, forever, from the beginning to the end. It is a record of all lives and experience and it is also a library of all potential life and experience. It may be that the DNA in every cell in all living things holds the link to the Akashic Records and the genes are what has been selected for that life-time for that person.

When studying the aspects of ‘Past Lives’ we can tap into information that is in the unconscious memory from before this life-time. A past life scenario can play like a film demonstrating an event of a personal connection that can throw some light onto why certain circumstances are being experienced now.

‘Soul Retrieval’ is another method of healing, where lost memories, aspects of the ’self’ can be retrieved, to awaken dormant DNA, or eliminate erroneous information that is now redundant or not belonging to the present situation. Akashic Records, past lives and soul retrieval do not belong to the scientific world and yet old cultures of the indigenous people of the world have practiced this form of healing for milenia. It is provable in its efficacy by the results. Maybe we do not have to understand it more than that. Let the researchers do some test trials on these procedures to witness the results but we have to give up for good the need to know and understand the ‘how’. We all believe the grass grows because we can witness it. We can observe it, scientifically study it and learn it’s process but we don’t really understand the ‘how’.

Another aspect is this: we are all unique. We are all born with a unique set of circumstances. No one cure-all can be 100% right for all people. Each one of us has a choice – are we going to let a trauma, a little gene and some bad thoughts and feelings get in the way and destroy us or are we going to use this opportunity to learn something, especially about ourselves, and discover something new – that the little gene can change, traumas can be healed and bad thoughts and feelings can dissipate allowing new good ones to arrive? It’s up to us.

An Example of gene programming: Back in time, something took place which we call ‘The Slave Trade’. Black people were enslaved by white people. According to the accounts, both personal, eye-witness and third-hand, extreme cruelty was inflicted on the slaves – not just once, but continually for some, and for successive generations. These experiences may have caused a ‘variant gene’, which was passed on and is now in the present generation, as a memory, to serve a purpose. The descendants of the slaves may experience something similar – child abuse, racial prejudice, injustice, poverty, poor social standing, and lack of freedom. If a traumatic event is experienced by someone in this generation, and they have a serious lack of ability to cope, they may be diagnosed as having PTSD. Investigation reveals a certain variant gene, in more than one case, and the gene is cited as the cause of PTSD or an increased risk of it.

It is possible that a variant gene does not CAUSE PTSD or an increased risk of it.

It is possible that the variant gene is CAUSED BY PTSD.

History repeats itself. We all know that fighting, racial hatred, greed, victimisation, cruelty, tyranny, etc. is bad, wars are bad. It doesn’t stop them happening. PTSD isn’t new – it’s as old as mankind. Maybe we are just learning to recognise the symptoms, acknowledging their existence as something we can help and change for the better, and finally seeing that Man does indeed hurt man. But he can also help man, heal man and be kind and love man.

If there is a variant gene for PTSD, or an increased risk of suffering from it in some people, there must also be a variant gene for learning, changing, heroism, healers, kindness, and unconditional love.
